Getting in the Kitchen
You may have noticed lately that my posts have been leaning more and more towards recipes I’m cooking, as opposed to what I originally set out my blog to do: chronicle my adventures in eating.
As I get closer to leaving college and entering the “real world” I’m starting to realize that “professional eater” is isn’t a practical career choice. Just look at Gail Simmons. It took her years before she was a judge on Top Chef, wearing many hats in the culinary industry including working for Daniel Boulud. Enjoying eating, on its own, is not going to cut it for me.
So as a challenge for myself, I’ve been cooking more. No, I’m not going as far as the Julie/Julia project but I do want to make more of an effort, and develop more of an appreciation, for preparing food. It’s been a little tough, you see I’m not so patient and as a novice cook that’s kind of key. (See angry picture of me shredding apples below…) But hey, I’m learning.
Surely I have many more mistakes (but really, how much worse can you get than setting your pie on fire?) but I hope you’ll stay tuned for the dishes and disasters I’m sure to whip up.
